El estudio se ha publicado en la revista Ecological Solutions and Evidence de la British Ecological Society. En este estudio, esparcieron 30 cargas de pulpa de caf\u00e9 sobre una superficie degradada de 35\u00d740m en Costa Rica y marcaron una zona de tama\u00f1o similar sin pulpa de caf\u00e9 como control.<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de s\u00f3lo dos a\u00f1os, <strong>la zona tratada con pasta de caf\u00e9 ten\u00eda un 80% de cubierta de dosel en comparaci\u00f3n con un 20% en la zona de control<\/strong>. El dosel de la zona de pasta de caf\u00e9 tambi\u00e9n era cuatro veces mayor que el de la zona de control.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores tambi\u00e9n encontraron que dos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, los nutrientes, incluidos el carbono, el nitr\u00f3geno y el f\u00f3sforo, se elevaron significativamente a la zona tratada con pasta de caf\u00e9 en comparaci\u00f3n con el control. \u00c9ste es un hallazgo prometedor dado que las antiguas tierras agr\u00edcolas tropicales a menudo est\u00e1n muy degradadas y la mala calidad del suelo puede retrasar la sucesi\u00f3n forestal durante d\u00e9cadas.<\/p>\n<p>Como producto de desecho ampliamente disponible y rico en nutrientes, <strong>la pasta de caf\u00e9 puede ser una estrategia de restauraci\u00f3n forestal rentable<\/strong>. Estas estrategias ser\u00e1n importantes si queremos alcanzar objetivos globales ambiciosos para restaurar grandes superficies forestales, como los acordados en los acuerdos de Par\u00eds de 2015.<\/p>\n<p>El dr. Cole, uno de los investigadores del estudio, coment\u00f3 que les gustar\u00eda ampliar el estudio probando este m\u00e9todo en varios lugares degradados del paisaje. Adem\u00e1s, podr\u00eda probarse con otros tipos de productos agr\u00edcolas no comerciales, como los caparazones de naranja.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEste estudio puede ser un punto de partida para otros investigadores e industrias para examinar c\u00f3mo podr\u00edan hacer su <strong>producci\u00f3n m\u00e1s eficiente creando v\u00ednculos con el movimiento global de restauraci\u00f3n<\/strong>\u201c, palabras del dr.
