El material podr\u00eda ayudar a los cient\u00edficos a controlar mejor la actividad cerebral y detectar niveles min\u00fasculos de neurotransmisores.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores presentar\u00e1n sus resultados en la reuni\u00f3n de primavera del\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acs.org\/content\/acs\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Chemical Society<\/a>\u00a0(ACS).<\/p>\n<p>La investigadora principal Ashley Ross, Ph.D., y su equipo han demostrado que los electrodos recubiertos con carbono de estos residuos pueden detectar trazas de niveles de biomol\u00e9culas in vitro. Seg\u00fan Ross, \u00e9ste es el primer ejemplo de caf\u00e9 residual que se reutiliza para aplicaciones de biodetecci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>El procedimiento<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Secaron el marco de caf\u00e9 utilizado y los calentaron en un horno de tubos a unos 1.300 F. A continuaci\u00f3n, a\u00f1adieron el material a una soluci\u00f3n de hidr\u00f3xido de potasio para activar el carb\u00f3n y abrir agujeros en la estructura.<\/p>\n<p>Entonces, los investigadores volvieron a calentar la mezcla con nitr\u00f3geno gas para eliminar cualquier subproducto no deseado. Lo que quedaba era una pasta de tinta llena de manchas de carbono poroso.
